At West Oxford Primary School we love writing for a range of different audiences and purposes. Here are some of the examples of writing we have completed in school.

Dream House writing competition
Well done to Olivia and Florence for being winners in The Finders Keepers Dream House writing competition. The writing was very impressive and of a high standard. We are so proud of you!

Oxford County Library Visits
This term each class in KS2 has made a visit to the Oxford Library to learn all about the Dewey library system and take part in Topic related book searches and talks. We loved meeting the librarians and choosing books.

Beech class were lucky to have a storytelling session today with Lorna the story teller who told us a wonderful story about a giant with no heart.
World Book Week 2023
We have enjoyed an amazing week celebrating World Book Day. We had visits from a storyteller, a writing workshop with an author and did Dodo Yoga with a children's author and illustrator. We also took part in competitions for the best classroom door changed into a book cover and wrote letters to our favourite authors and illustrators.
There was also a book swap and daily stories with the librarians. On World Book Day we had a special assembly and dressed up!
World Book Day 2023
We enjoy whole school writing days on a range of exciting themes.
Last week there was evidence that a Spaceship had crash landed in our playground! Aliens were spotted by some children around school. It was very mysterious and we enjoyed writing about it.

Last year for National Writing Day, our school wrote about an attack on our school by dinosaurs!! We wrote fantastic newspaper reports about the events that took place, when dinosaurs broke into our school! Here are some photos from the day.

We recently kicked off Eco week with a brilliant Eco based writing day
Every class in school wrote a letter for our spectacular Eco writing folder on an issue that concerned them about the Environment and protecting our Planet from pollution.
Reception wrote about where Rubbish comes from. Year 1 wrote to fellow humans and their parents asking them to do more recycling and up cycling and choose greener ways to travel.
Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 wrote to local MPS, Boris Johnson and CEOs of Supermarkets asking them to cut down on packaging and cut down on C02 gases and many other important issues they were concerned about .
We were also lucky to have a special guest speaker in from Oxford City council to tell us all about what happens to our recycling.
