Attendance

Parents have a legal obligation to ensure their children attend school regularly and should be aware that absences during term time can seriously disrupt the continuity of learning.

We appreciate that all family circumstances can sometimes be difficult, however children need to be in school as much as possible. Attendance is seen as a key school performance indicator and is closely monitored by the Local Authority and Ofsted. To this end the school must collect and report details of authorised and unauthorised absences by law.

Encouraging Attendance

To encourage high levels of attendance we:

  • Provide a creative, varied and inclusive curriculum which encourages a love of learning for all our pupils.
  • Collaborate closely with external agencies to help families and pupils make the most of their schooling. Inform parents regularly about any attendance issues concerning their children.

Absence Request Form

Absence Request Form

Should you decide that you need to take your child out of school for any reason we ask that you complete an Absence Request form preferably at least two weeks prior to the absence. This includes for pre-booked medical, dental or other appointments. For last minute medical/dental appointments please ensure you inform the school office on the day via telephone or email and not just word of mouth through a teacher or TA on the playground. You can print out a copy of the form using the button above, or come to the office and request a paper copy. Completed forms must be handed in to the office. Please note that we cannot authorise holidays during term time.
