Zones of Regulation
At West Oxford Community Primary School, we use the Zones of Regulation as an approach to understanding and regulating our feelings and emotions using four colours.
If we can recognize when we are becoming less regulated, we are able to do something about it to manage our feelings and get ourselves to a healthy place. This comes more naturally for some, but for others it is a skill that needs more attention and practice. This is the goal of The Zones of Regulation.
How can I support at home?
Talk to your child about the zones, you could even use the language at home to describe yours and your child's emotions. Below is a recommended book list if you wanted to read any books which link to the zones of regulation at home.
